Connecting Intercom

Connect your Intercom workspace to ChatSignals to start analysing your conversations automatically.

Connecting your Intercom workspace to ChatSignals takes a couple of minutes. Once connected, we sync your conversations automatically and start extracting insights — no further configuration needed.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Head to chatsignals.io and sign up with your email. Create your organisation — this is the workspace where your team will access analytics and insights.

If you already have a ChatSignals account, sign in and go to Settings → Data Sources.

Step 2: Connect Intercom

During onboarding, select Intercom as your support tool. You'll be redirected to Intercom to authorise the connection.

ChatSignals requests read-only access to your conversations. We never modify your Intercom data.

Once authorised, you'll be redirected back to ChatSignals and your workspace will show as connected.

Step 3: Wait for Your Conversations to Sync

ChatSignals immediately starts importing your Intercom conversations. You can track progress in Settings → Data Sources, where you'll see how many threads have been synced.

The initial sync typically takes a few minutes depending on your conversation volume. After that, new conversations are picked up automatically on an ongoing basis.

What Happens Next

Once your conversations are synced, ChatSignals gets to work:

  • User Feedback — Bugs, feature requests, complaints, and praise are extracted automatically from every conversation. No manual tagging required.
  • Taxonomy — Build custom categories that match how your business thinks about support topics. ChatSignals tags conversations against your taxonomy automatically.
  • Topic Breakdown — See your conversations grouped by theme with week-over-week trends, so you can spot what's changing.
  • Dashboard — Conversation volume, resolution times, and team performance in one place.

Disconnecting Intercom

To disconnect ChatSignals from your Intercom workspace:

  1. Go to Settings → Data Sources in ChatSignals.
  2. Find your Intercom data source and click the delete button.

Disconnecting will not affect your Intercom data. All your conversations remain untouched in Intercom.
